Contract includes supplying the overall financial and non-financial document processing solution, to be used by bank branches, data completion centers, transaction authorization centers and operational support centers
In December 2010, Bull Latin America signed a contract with Banco do Brasil (the State-controlled Brazilian bank and the biggest bank in Brazil) to supply products and services for a turnkey financial and non-financial document processing solution, using distributed document image capture, automatic image identification and classification, automatic data extraction using OCR[1] and ICR[2] technologies, signature verification, document formatting, data extraction and legacy systems integration for business transactions. This is a classic, although highly complex, example of a paperless system.
The project involves the deployment of both the main and back-up document processing centers within the bank’s data centers, with distributed document capture units all over the country (in 5,000 branches) connected via networks.
This will provide Banco do Brasil with a powerful technological solution that, on the one hand, will capture, process and manage a huge number of documents relating to financial transactions every day, and, on the other hand, will speed up the response time for customers when it comes to their business processes based on non-financial documents.
Bull is the systems integrator (prime contractor) on the project, responsible for integrating its own Bull TMD™ solution with A2iA™, SQN™, ABBYY™ and ONBASE™ products and solutions.
Throughout the lifecycle of the contract, Bull Latin America will supply Banco do Brasil with all the hardware and software to be installed in the main and back-up processing centers and the software modules that will be installed in all bank branches and processing centers, as well as software integration and customization, training, project management and hardware/software support and maintenance for a five-year period following the implementation.
