Bull Outsourcing Services registers as a ‘Participant’ in the European initiative to improve the energy performance of Data Centers
The Code of Conduct as a European benchmark
Data Centers who sign up to the Code de Conduct are committing themselves to apply a number of recommendations made by the European Commission. These good practices include recommendations on the choice of hardware, air conditioning and data management.
The European Commission initiative is poised to become an industry benchmark, in effect a ‘soft law’.
It is expected that future invitations to tender put out by both public and private sector organizations will make it a pre-requisite to apply these best practices, as already happens in the UK. In April, the UK was the first European country to pass a law requiring organizations to actively assess the CO2 emissions from their Data Centers.
Bull’s commitment to the environment
Bull is constantly investing in outsourcing, one of its key strategic activities, to bring its customers the resources, infrastructures, methods and service levels that best meeting their needs: keeping up to date with the most demanding international standards (ISO 27001, ISO 9001V2008…), recovering heat from machine rooms, adopting best practice and training its people to ensure its technologies are state of the art. With this in mind, Bull has already signed up to private-sector initiatives such as ‘The Green Grid’ which defines a collection of globally-accepted energy efficiency parameters for Data Centers.
