New Escala servers: a powerful combination of performance and flexibility

Following the launch this February of its new-generation Escala™ servers based on POWER7™ processor technology, Bull is further expanding the range with five new models, including the high-end Escala H9-700 system and the very latest version of the AIX® operating system, AIX7.

A new flagship for the Escala range

Escala H9-700 is the most powerful of the servers based on POWER7™ processors, with an exceptional price/performance ratio, high-availability and reliability (RAS) mainframe-like capabilities, and a great deal of flexibility when it comes to delivering power on demand. It also features the very latest virtualization technologies. Offering a capacity of up to 256 POWER7 processor cores, Escala H9-700 is designed to run organizations’ business-critical applications. Each Escala H9-700 system can switch between standard mode, with up to 256 POWER7™ processors running 4GHz, and TurboCore mode which allows up to 128 processors to operate at 4.25GHz.

High-performance entry-level models

The Escala E1-700 and E3-700 entry-level servers are available in 2U rack format, and the Escala E2-700 and E4-700 are available either as a 4U rack or in tower format. All deliver remarkable levels of performance for a very cost-effective price, to run distributed applications, small-scale databases and Java™ environments.

The innovations in the POWER7™ processors and virtualization technologies deliver real benefit for the entire environment and exceptional performances for these entry-level Escala models:

  • E1-700: 4 (3.0 GHz), 6 (3.7 GHz) or 8 (3.55 GHz) cores
  • E3-700: 8 (3.0 GHz), 12 (3.7 GHz) or 16 cores (3.55 GHz)
  • E2-700: 4, 6 or 8 cores (3.0 GHz)
  • E4-700: 4 (3.0 GHz and 3.7 GHz) 6 (3.7 GHz) or 8 cores (3.55 GHz).
